#3. The Move

A few weeks later, we found ourselves on the road driving toward Indiana. Ryan drove the giant Penske truck full of furniture and things we didn’t sell before we left, and I drove the Toyota Camry loaded up with boxes and, of course, our pet cat, Harvey. I had balled my eyes out as we drove away from our first home and the community that we grew to consider family. We had made some amazing memories and friendships in Minnesota and it was hard to say goodbye. The surge of pregnancy hormones probably didn’t help either. I didn’t know how far along I was, but what I did know was that I felt like crap. Whoever called it “morning sickness” was obviously misinformed because I was sick morning, noon, and night. The only foods I could eat were orange “cuties” and string cheese. Also, I was exhausted. It felt like someone had shot me with a tranquilizer gun and no matter how much sleep I got, I was still tired.

We arrived safely in Indiana and pulled up to our apartment complex that we had never seen before in a town and state we had never been to. But, it wasn’t as shocking as it sounds- we were use to it. Our apartment was a cozy one bedroom, one bathroom on the bottom floor of a two story complex. I’ll admit, after owning your own home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms and almost two acres of land, it’s difficult to downsize into a living space a quarter that size. But we stayed positive and thankful for our new home.
